Krishna Mahotsav–
2001 For the first time “Krishna
Mahotsav” the Krishna district tourism festival has taken place during 2001,
February 17th to 21st on the bed of Krishna. It is a profound success in all respects.
The culture and the heritage of the land has projected in a delightful manner. Krishna
District being the pioneer in national movement and social movements of
all huge processed rich cultural and social background. It has become platform for
dance, music, drama, folk arts, handicrafts i.e., Kondapalli toys, handlooms ie.,
Kalankari and so many products of the land. Several dignitaries like Honourable
Ministers, Legislators, and experts of different areas has glaced the event. 19
prominent persons of the different fields belongs to Krishna district were
felicitated. Though it is first of its kind in the district it was estimated that 8
lakhs people were attended for this five days festival.
District administration under the chairmanship of Sri B. R. Meena I. A. S.,
Collector, Krishna fully involved in this prestigious maiden attempt and successfully
organized the event. Krishna Mahotsav– 2002
The first year success had made the
administration to continue the tradition and to keep the spirit of the land at heights.
The 2nd Krishna Mahotsav has celebrated from 7th to 10th February, 2002. With the
experience of 1st year success the 2nd Festival has planned to celebrate at 3 places
on the same days. Divi Festival at Avanigadda, Beach Festival at
Manginapudi beach, Bandar also organized simultaneously with the main festival at
Vijayawada. Again it is a thumping success nearly 12 lakhs people visited and enjoyed
the festival at Vijayawada alone. In addition to various classical dance and drama
several folk art troups from various districts also participated in the
festival and exhibited their art forms. Artisans of the districts i.e., Kondapalli toys,
kalankari, Rold gold ornaments etc. have made highest sales for their products and got
work orders for rest of the year. Now, the
people of Krishna District habituated to wait for Krishna Mahotsav Festival in the 2nd
week of February every year. You are cordially invited on behalf
of our District administration to 3rd Krishna Mahotsav from February 12th to 16th.
Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh Sri Surjeeth Singh Barnala will inaugurate
this 5 days festival on Kshetrayya Kalavedia in Krishnaveni Kala Pranganam
(River bed of Krishna) at the foot hills of Goddess Kanaka Durga at Vijayawada.
