Part of the Central Social Welfare Board, the A.P. State Social Welfare Board was formed in 1954. The main objective of the Central Welfare Board is to partner with NGOs to work for the welfare, development and empowerment of women in the society.

The major schemes implemented by the Central Social Welfare Board are:

  • Setting up of creche units for the benefit of children of working and ailing mothers belonging to the lower income group
  • Conducting awareness camps on issues relating to women
  • Setting up of Family Counselling Centres to provide counseling and rehabilitative services to those women affected by family and social problems
  • Arrange vocational training programmes to help women gain employment
  • Build and maintain working womens’ hostels, and more
