The Directorate of Women Development and Child Welfare was formed for the
socio-economic development of women and children by implementing various
developmental schemes.
The main functions of the Directorate are:

Implement nutrition programmes to provide wholesome food to pregnant and
lactating mothers

Conduct health and literacy campaigns to help improve health of women and
enable them gain suitable employment

Promote adoption of family planning measures and work for the welfare of the
girl child
