The Directorate of Women Development and Child Welfare was formed for the socio-economic development of women and children by implementing various developmental schemes.

The main functions of the Directorate are:

  • Implement nutrition programmes to provide wholesome food to pregnant and lactating mothers
  • Conduct health and literacy campaigns to help improve health of women and enable them gain suitable employment
  • Promote adoption of family planning measures and work for the welfare of the girl child
  • Construct and maintain homes for children to enable them pursue higher studies, and more
