The Commissioner of Tribal Welfare is the chief controlling officer for the Departmental Budget. He formulates, directs the process of implementation and monitors the progress of all tribal developmental programs in the State. He coordinates with other departments on implementation of TSP and also implementation of Constitutional safeguards.

Department is Responsible for

  • Education of Scheduled Tribes
    The habitation pattern in the tribal areas has necessitated opening of Ashram Schools and these Ashram Schools are being provided with school and hostel facilities under one roof.
  • Economic Development of Scheduled Tribes
    TRICOR aims at providing financial assistance towards margin money to enable the poorest of the poor Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries to mobilise the required institutional credit to take up the income generating economic activities.
  • Primary Health
    Health care through PHCs, CHCs, Area Hospitals and District Hospitals. Providing epidemic surveillance in tribal areas.
