The strength of the students studying in the Institutions increased from a mere 4803 in 1983-84 to 88, 053 in 2001-2002 and the number of institutions in 1983-84 increased from 46 to 230 in 2001-2002 including 4 RITIs 3 Residential Polytechnics and 3 new schools sanctioned during the year 2001-02.
