The Commercial Tax Department (CTD) is the largest revenue generator of the
state, contributing over 60% of the state’s revenue under eight different
statues. The CTD operates at three levels, namely at the head office, division
and at the circle, there are 193 circles, spread across 25 divisions.
The main objectives of the Department are:

Increase efficiency in tax administration and ensure effective tax recovery

Enable the selection of cases for detailed audit and identify tax defaulters

Monitor interstate movement of goods and assist compliance of tax laws<

Monitor and help the filing of Income tax returns

Collect of tax dues arrears, and more<
