Q 2).How APITCO helps to promote Entrepreneurship among Minorities?
For the promotion of entrepreneurship among the minority communities
the Minorities Welfare Department of Andhra Pradesh has pioneered and integrated
approach. As per its new initiatives. Potential entrepreneurs among the minority
communities would not only be identified and trained, but will be extended all
the 'escort services' required by them at various stages, to implement their
ventures.
A significant aspect of the State Government's new approach
is the association of an expert agency to identify potential entrepreneurs,
belonging to the minority communities, identify viable projects, help the candidates
select a suitable project, liaise with banks and help secure loan, assist in
procuring machinery and installing machinery and equipment, and monitor the
progress of the candidates till their ventures commence commercial operation.
The programme thus aims at developing first generation entrepreneurs
and help them implement their ventures by providing timely and effective follow-up
support. The programme launched during January 1994 in the districts of Hyderabad,
Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Kurnool and Guntur was extended after two years to Mahaboobnagar,
Warangal, Cuddapah, chittoor and Nellore. So far, nearly 6300 entrepreneurial
ventures were established with assistance from APITCO.
Q 3).What are the Salient features of entrepreneurs Scheme ?
Creation of awareness among the minority communities viz., Muslims,
Christens, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis about the significance of entrepreneurship.
Identification and selection of candidates, with the active participation
of banks and other agencies, who possess the latent entrepreneurial abilities.
Sharpen the entrepreneurial talents of the selected candidates through appropriate
training.
Identification of viable investment opportunities which suit the entrepreneurial
profile of the selected candidates in terms of their risk bearing capacity,
vocational skill base, managerial abilities, communications skills and adaptability
to innovation.
Assisting the candidates in applying for and securing financial assistance
from banks and other agencies.
Assisting the candidates in procuring the requisite machinery and equipment.
Help the candidates overcome the initial teething problems, if any in managing
their ventures.
Monitoring the progress of the candidates in all stages through commercial
operation.

Belongs to minority community
Age Group - 18 to 35 years
Formal Reading and writing
Able to invest 10 to 25% of the project cost
Able to provide collateral security as per bank norms
Proposed activity should be either manufacturing or servicing
Project cost should be in the range of Rs.0.50 lakhs to rs.5.00 lakhs
