TThe Consumer Protection Act came into force in the year 1986. The main object of the Consumer Protection Act is to provide simple, speedy and inexpensive Redressal to consumers and as such a Three Tier Quasi- Judicial machinery, i.e., National Commission at the National Level, State Commission at the State level and District Forum at the District level, was established.

A P STATE CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL COMMISSION

The pecuniary jurisdiction of the A.P. State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission is Complaints where the value of the goods or services and compensation, if any exceeds Rs.20 lakhs but does not exceed Rs.1 crore.

DISTRICT CONSUMER FORUMS

 Presently 29 District Consumer Forums are functioning on full time basis in 23 Districts head quarters. The District Forum is having jurisdiction to entertain complaints where the value of the goods or services and the compensation, if any, claimed does not exceed Rs.20 lakhs.
