The A. P. Pollution Control Board plays a catalytic role in implementing environmental policies, regulations and developing frame works to manage both waste generated as well as natural resources efficiently.

 The main functions of the Board are:

  • Plan a comprehensive program for prevention and control of pollution of streams and wells in the State
  • Advise the State Government on matters concerning prevention and control of water pollution
  • Review plans, specifications or other data relating to set up of plants for treatment of water
  • Formulate, modify or annul effluent standards for sewage and trade effluents and for monitoring the quality of receiving waters resulting from the discharge of effluents
  • Evolve economical and reliable methods for treatment of sewage and trade effluents
  • Evolve methods of utilisation of sewage and suitable trade effluents in agriculture
  • Formulate standards for treatment of sewage and trade effluents to be discharged into any particular stream, and so on
