Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO), largest
power generating company of A.P. State with installed capacity of 6760.9 MW
comprising 3172.5 MW Thermal, 3586.4 MW Hydel and 2 MW Wind power was
established by Government of Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh
Electricity Reforms Act 1998 on 01.02.1999 after unbundling the erstwhile
Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB) into APTRANSCO and APGENCO; with
the Principal Objective of engaging in the business of generation of
electricity
APGENCO is the third largest power utility in India and has
highest hydel capacity in the Country, with an asset base of Rs.15570 Cr. and
equity base of Rs.2107 Cr. having annual turn over of more than Rs.4200 Cr.
APGENCO provides reliable and qualitative power to the Andhra
Pradesh State meeting more than 50% of its total power requirement. APGENCO is
not only engaged in the business of generation of electricity but is also
successfully executing operation and maintenance contracts for 272 MW Gas Based
Power Project in the Joint Sector at Vijjeswaram and 4x18 MW Alimineti Madhava
Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.
APGENCO Thermal Power Stations are winning Gold Medals and
bagging meritorious Productivity Awards continuously for excellent performance
year after year.
APGENCO is committed to achieve the massive capacity addition
programme of 8753 MW by March, 2012.

more than 11,000, with firm commitment to augment its installed capacity
continuously and for better utilization of man power.
