Recruitment of Teachers - 2001
Notification was issued on 14-6-2001 calling
applications from the eligible candidates for filling up various categories of
vacant teacher posts through DSC-2001.
The number of posts notified under each category
are as follows: | School Assistants | 3,205 | | Language Pandits Grade I | 426 | | Secondary Grade Teachers | 21,069 | | Language Pandits Grade II | 6,081 | | Physical Education Teachers | 1,348 | | Total | 32,129 |
The last date for the submission of application
form to the member convener DSC and DEO by the candidates was 27-07-2001. The
written test for the above posts have been conducted in all the districts on 26,
27 and 29th of August, 2001. Further for the first time, to ensure
greater transparency, Question Paper Booklets were returned to the candidates
and Answer Key has been released to the newspapers, calling for
objections, if any, from the candidates. The valuation of the Answer sheets is
in progress.
State Institute of Educational Management and
Training(SIEMAT)
Introduction
SIEMAT is an organization to provide policy
support in Educational Planning Administration to the Department of School
Education. At national level NIEPA is working for the above cause. Organisations
like SIEMAT assume importance to plan, monitor and evaluate the short term and
long term educational plans to achieve the goal of "Education For All" in the
state. The main objectives of SIEMAT being

to enhance the capacities of field
functionaries, academics and officers of education department to achieve the
goal of UEE.

To provide technical and academic support to
prepare educational development plans to achieve quality education.

To undertake training, studies and researches
on all issues related to programmes and initiatives of Education Department
like District Primary Education Programme, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Open Learning
and Alternative schooling systems etc.

to establish data base and MIS helpful to
monitor ongoing initiatives of the School Education Department.
An executive body is proposed under the
Chairmanship of the Minister for School Education with Secretary to Government,
Dept. of School Education as Vice-chairman. SIEMAT shall have an executive body
headed by a Director who is responsible for formulating and translating the
policies into action. For internal management and training the following wings
are proposed in the organization.

EMIS unit

Research and Evaluation unit

Documentation and Publication unit.
There shall be an administrative wing to take
care of administration and accounting in SIEMAT.
Staff Structure
Every academic wing will be headed by a
Professor and assisted by Lecturers, research associates / programmers.
Infrastructural facilities
SIEMAT shall develop a good library and
reference unit. It shall have a good computer wing. It shall have good
conference and seminar halls and auditorium. It is also proposed to provide
hostel facility for 50 inmates. SIEMAT shall function by forging convergence and
coordination with national organization like NIEPA, NCERT, NIRD and State
organizations like SCERT, Dr. MCR HRD institute and Administrative Staff College
of India, Centre for Social & Economic studies etc besides organizations
working for teacher training. It is proposed to operationalise SIEMAT activities
with following units initially: Educational Planning and Management Educational
Finance and EMIS unit. Already applications are invited to fill certain posts
for the above units by open notification. The personnel will be in position in
due course.
Two day seminar on "Reshaping Teacher Education in
the context of Education for All" at Jubilee Hall, Public Garden, Hyderabad on
31st Aug. and 1st Sept. 2001
Sri Kadiyam Srihari, Hon’ble Minister for School
Education, A. P inaugurated the seminar. Prof. A. N. Maheswari, Chairman, NCTE
was the Chief Guest of the seminar inaugural. Dr. I. V. Subba Rao, Secretary to
Government, School Education Department presented ‘Teacher Education Scenario in
the state’ and raised certain quality concerns in teacher education. Eminent
Educationalists viz. , Sri Khandelval, Director, NIEPA, New Delhi, Prof. Afzal
Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ambedkar Open University, Hyd. , Prof. R. Govinda,
Senior Fellow, NIEPA, Prof. Karpade, Joint Director, NCERT, New Delhi, Prof.
Malla Reddy, Former Vice Chancellor, Osmania University participated in the
seminar. The seminar deliberated on ‘Management and Curricular issues in Teacher
Education and teacher competence at Primary and Secondary level. The seminar
also reviewed the implementation of revised B. Ed curriculum and 2 year D. Ed
curriculum.
Opening / Upgradation of Schools
Opening of New Primary school
During the year 2001-2002 government has
sanctioned 7,351 Primary schools in the state. Out of 7,351 sanctioned, 6,894
Primary schools were opened. To meet the immediate teaching needs 2, 978 Vidya
Volunteers are engaged.
Upgradation of Primary schools into Upper
primary school
During the year 2001-2002 government has
sanctioned for upgradation of 4,352 Primary schools into Upper Primary Schools.
Out of 4,352 sanctioned for upgradation, 4,309 Primary Schools were upgraded
into Upper Primary Schools. To meet the immediate teaching needs 1688 Vidya
Volunteers are engaged.

Government in the GO Ms No. 67 Education dated
29-5-2001 and GO Ms No. 89 Education dated 28-7-2001 has sanctioned the

Release of School Directory
For the first time, based on the data collected
from schools in the state, a school directory has been prepared for each
district, containing information on enrollment, teachers and infrastructure
facilities in each school. The School Directory is being hosted on departmental
web site http://www.schoolsinap.com/
