The Directorate of School Education functions
under the administrative control of Education Department, Govt. of Andhra
Pradesh and is headed by the Director of School Education
Functions
Providing schooling facilities for all children of age group 6–14 years
-
Providing Primary/Alternative school within one Km from each habitation
-
Providing Upper Primary schools within three Km from each habitation
-
Providing High Schools within five Km from each habitation
Providing teachers in the schools
Providing pre-service and in-service training programmes for teachers
-
Offering D. Ed (Diploma of Education) course for the Post-Intermediate students
through DIETs (District Institute of Education and Training)

Offering B. Ed (Bachelor of Education) course for graduates through Colleges of
Education
-
Offering U. G. D. P. Ed. (Under Graduate Diploma in Physical Education) for
post-intermediate students and B. P. Ed. (Bachelor of Physical Education) for
graduates through the Colleges of Physical Education

Offering Pundit Training in the languages of Telugu, Urdu and Hindi
Processing requests to correct Name, Father Name and Date of Birth caused due
to clerical errors in the SSC/HSC/SSLC/HSLC Certificates and school records.
Processing requests to alter the date of birth in the S. S. C / HSC / SSLC /
HSLC Certificates and school records.
School should work for not less than 220 working days.
Every second Saturday is a holiday except on examinations days.
Dates of Public Holidays may be changed if the State Government declares
otherwise.
Any other holidays declared by the Government applies to Schools also.
Note: For VII Class and X Class Examinations
dates may be followed as decided by DCEB/Director of Govt. Examinations,
Hyderabad.
