The Federation  of Sericulturists  and Silk Weavers Coop., Societies Ltd., Hyderabad was established during February, 1975 under the A.P.,Coop., Societies Act, 1964 and rules there under with an authorized capital of Rs.10.00 lakhs of 10,000 shares of Rs.100/- each.  The present  authorized share capital of Serifed was increased from Rs.10.00 lakhs  to Rs.300.00 lakhs consisting of 12,000 shares and the value of the share is enhanced from Rs.100/- to  Rs.2,500  each.  The paid  up  capital  of  Serifed is  Rs.1,32,56,500/- as  on

31-12-2007.  The share capital was contributed by Govt., to an extent of Rs.125.14 lakhs and the remaining Rs.7.425 lakhs by the  member societies.

ACTIVITIES:

1. Supply of quality Sericultural inputs / disinfectants to the farmers.

2. Procurement & Marketing of silk yarn.

3. Providing Silk yarn pledge facility to  silk reelers.

4. Production and marketing of silk fabrics.

5. Providing silk sarees pledge facility to the silk weavers.

1) Supply of quality sericulture inputs/disinfectants to the farmers.:  

Serifed has established Pesticides Sales Centers in the premises of Govt., Cocoon Markets Govt. Grainages, Technical Service Centres,  to supply sericulture equipment, inputs and quality disinfectants for the benefit of the farmers.   Serifed is supplying sericulture inputs / equipment to the Department of Sericulture as per their indent under various schemes sponsored by the State Govt. and Central Silk Board, Bangalore to increase production in Mulberry, Tassar and Eri Silk.

2) TRADING IN SILK YARN  :

Serifed opened Silk Exchanges without statutory support in Dharmavaram, Ananthapur Dist.,   Proddutur in Kadapa District and Hyderabad to bring both the silk yarn reelers and twisters / silk weavers on to a common platform, so that silk yarn is made available at stable prices and also regularly.

Besides this silk exchanges, Serifed is also running silk yarn sales centers at several  places where silk weavers are concentrated to supply quality silk yarn.

 

3. PROVIDING SILK YARN PLEDGE FACILITY TO SILK REELERS:

In order to save the reelers from  price fluctuations, particularly during price-fall period, SERIFED has introduced a novel system of giving loan on the pledge of the yarn, to the reelers so that the reeler can postpone his sale till the prices go up.  With this facility the reeler could continue his activity during bad seasons also.  A marginal  interest @ 10% P.A.  is being charged.   This pledge system is benefiting the small reelers to get working capital at low rate of interest as well as to market their  product whenever the prices raises.  Serifed has also started silk sarees/pavadas pledge facility at A.P.Silk Exchange, Dharmavaram.

                                                                                                              

4) PRODUCTION AND MARKETING OF SILK  FABRICS:

Serifed has been procuring and supplying silk and cotton fabrics in wholesale to the exporters, and ACASH, New Delhi under the control of Development Commissioner of Handloms, New Delhi.

  Serifed is supplying other textiles like bed linen etc., to Indian Railways, CRPF., etc., through ACASH, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India,  New Delhi.  Serifed also supplying to  State Govt., Depts.,   Viz., Roads & Buildings, Irrigation, B.C. Welfare. Tribal Welfare  and Social Welfare Dept., etc.,

Serifed is also making efforts for retail sale of silk sarees and material through participation in various national handloom expos / exhibitions for the benefit of member Weavers Co-op., Societies .

5) PROVIDING SILK SAREES PLEDGE FACILITY TO THE WEAVERS :

            For the benefit of individual weavers, Serifed has been providing pledge facility of silk sarees during un season to get working capital and run the looms.  This facility helps the small individual weavers from the distress sale during un season and  stops going to the master weavers.
