RAJiv (Rajiv Internet Village) Programme


Every citizen in the State, be it in the urban or rural area, should be able to avail of all Government services/benefits intended for the citizens in a quick, cost effective and hassle free manner, through a single window, without any hassles. Transacting with the government should be hassle free, avoiding middlemen, delays and rooting out corruption. Government schemes to alleviate poverty and illiteracy should reach the targeted groups, optimally.

Keeping the above objectives in view, Govt. launched the Rajiv Internet Village programme to bring Govt. services/benefits closer to the people living in villages and rural areas.

Rajiv Internet village centres are being set up in 8618 villages across the State. These centres are expected to be functional by October, 2005.

The benefits that accrue to rural people through the Rajiv Internet Village centres are :

  1. Easy access to information on Agriculture, Education, Health etc.,
  2. Market Prices, Cropping Pattern, Weather Forecast, Agriculture Extension
  3. Quality Inputs : Seeds, Fertilizers, Pesticides etc.,
  4. Agricultural Marketing : getting better prices for produce
  5. Examination results, eLearning
  6. Health Extension, Immunization, Telemedicine etc.,
  7. Access to all Forms, Copies of Land Records, Applications, Certificates etc.,
  8. Collection of bills : electricity, telephone etc.,
  9. Private Services : Insurance, e-commerce etc., 
  10. Status of applications of “ Rajiv Palle – bata” 
  11.Computer literary for one person in each family

At present 1148 Rural Service Delivery Points (RSDPs), established through a programme in 2003, are already functioning at Mandal headquarters/village level and presently delivering the following services through APOnline, a Govt. portal:

  1. Collection of electricity bills
  2. Agriculture information through iKisan Portal
  3. Computer Education
  4. BSNL telephone bill collection
  5. Access to Govt. Forms, information and certificates
  6. Agriculture market prices within Marketing Department and AGMARKNET
  7. IShakti information system of HLL
  8. Bharat Matrimony Services
  9. Examination results and printing of marks sheets
  10. Revenue records delivery system

The electricity bill collection service has been effectively started through the existing centres since January, 2005. As of April, 2005, these centres have done 3.15 transactions and collected Rs.5.5 crores on account of collection of electricity bills alone. These centres have now been merged into the Rajiv Internet village programme.

The following additional services will be made available to the rural population through the RAJiv centres:

G2C Services:

· Payment of property tax
· Registration and Issue of Births and Death certificates
· Sale of applications, registration and renewal of trade licences
· Sale/Reservation of RTC tickets
· Filing of tax returns, Payment of taxes
· Sale of non-judicial stamp papers
· Transport department related services
· Sale of Passport Applications
· Train reservation
· Reservation of accommodation, tickets for darshan at various pilgrim centres

B2C Services:

· Payment of Telephone bills of Idea Cellular, Reliance, Airtel as well as issue of applications for new connections
· Money transfer facility through Western Union
· Sale of Internet service products
· Courier services
· Sale of tickets for tourism operators
· On-line Matrimonial registrations
