  Inexercise of the powers conferred by sub-section  1of Section 11 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974), the Governmentof Andhra Pradesh, after consultation with the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, and inpartial modification of the earlier notification issued by the Government of AndhraPradesh in G.O.Ms.No.308 Revenue (Excise.II) Department, dated 26.3.1996 published inAndhra Pradesh Gazette Part – I, Extraordinary dated 26.3.1996, hereby specify thatthe 23 Courts of Special Judicial Magistrate of First Class, one for  each district including Hyderabad, for speedy trial of Prohibition and Excise Offences under theAndhra Pradesh Excise Act, 1968 sanctioned in the said G.O. shall exercise jurisdictionover the local area co-terminus with that of the jurisdiction of courts of judicialMagistrate of First Class functioning at their respective district Head Quarters.  The other Courts of Judicial Magistrates of FirstClass functioning in the districts (other than the District Head Quarters) shall exercisejurisdiction under the Andhra Pradesh Excise Act over their respective local areas.  The Special Magistrates shall, however, also actas Magistrate of First Class in respect of such cases which are assigned to them by theChief Judicial Magistrate / Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
