REVISION OF MINIMUM RATES OF WAGES IN THE EMPLOYMENT IN “HOSPITALS, NURSING HOMES AND CLINICS OTHER THAN GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS AND DISPENSARIES”

          In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 and sub-section (2) of section 5 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (Central Act II of 1948) and of all other powers herein to enabling and after having consulted the State Minimum Wages Advisory Board, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby fixes the minimum rates of wages which shall consist of basic wage and cost of living allowance as specified in Column (3) of the Schedule below as payable to each category of employees specified in the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof and employed in the employment in “Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Clinics other than Government Hospitals and Dispensaries” in the State of Andhra Pradesh,  the same having been previously published as required under clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 5 of the said Act.

 

          The minimum rates of wages so fixed shall come into force with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette.

Cost of Living Allowance:

 

(a)      The minimum basic rates of wages are linked to consumer price index for the industrial workers at 287 points (Base year 1982=100 series).  For any rise in cost of Price Index over and above this level, cost of living allowance shall be paid as specified below:-

          And for an increase of every Rs.50/- in the basic wage above Rs.500/-  0.25 ps shall be pad as V.D.A per point.

         

(b)     The Cost of living allowance shall be notified by the Commissioner of Labour for every six months i.e., 1st April, and 1st October.  For this purpose the average rise in the state industrial workers consumer price index numbers for half year ending December and June respectively shall be taken into account.

 

Note:

 

1.If any category of employee is found employed in Private Hospital, Nursing Homes and Clinics for whom minimum wages have not been specified by this notification such employee shall be paid wages in accordance with wages notified for similar categories of employees employed therein.

 

2.Where any category of worker is paid higher wages than those specified above, that wages shall be continued to be paid to that category.

 

3.The wages fixed are exclusive of any other benefits like uniform allowance washing allowance or any other allowance that is being provided at present.

 

4.To arrive at a daily wage the monthly wage shall be divided by 26.
