1.     Judgment  of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in (1997) 1 Supreme Court cases 416 in W.P. ( Crl. ) No. 539/1986  filed by D.K. Basu.

ORDER

In pursuance  of the directions  issued  in Column  8 of para 35 of the judgment    in D.K. Basu case  in the reference first read above ,  Government hereby  direct that all  the Government  Doctors  of  Primary Health Centres / Government General Hospitals  of all  towns / Area Hospitals  and District Hospitals   in Cities  and Districts  including  Railways  are  designated  as  Panel Doctors  for the  purpose  of  strict compliance of the directions   issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in D.K. Basu case in particular to Column  8 Para 35 of the said  judgment.

2.       All the Medical Officers are hereby directed to respond to the requisitions made by the local Police Officers / S.H.Os in the matter of subjecting   the arrestee to medical examination duly conforming to the Column 8 of Para 35 of   D.K. Basu judgment.

3.       All the Station  House Officers / Police Officers  are  also  directed  to  follow  the directions of  Supreme Court by producing the arrestee  before said Panel   Doctors   to subject  him for medical  examination  for every 48 hours  during  his  detention   in custody.

All the Medical Officers in the State through Director of Health, AP, Hyderabad.

The Director General & Inspector General of Police,  AP, Hyderabad.       

The Government Pleader  for Home,  AP High Court, Hyderabad.

The Home(Leg.I)Department with a request to issue necessary directions to the Police Officers.

The commissioner of Printing, Stationery and Stores Purchase, A.P. Hyderabad – with  a   request   to publish in  A.P. Gazette).
