ORDER:

 

          Government have issued Andhra Pradesh Integrated Medical Attendance Rules, 1972. As per rule 6 of Andhra Pradesh Integrated Medical Attendance Rules, 1972, i.e. persons entitled for free medical treatment, the category of “Family Pensioner” has not been included.  Hence, they are out of the purview of Andhra Pradesh Integrated Medical Attendance Rules.

 

2.       In the reference read above, Education Department have forwarded the demands of Andhra Pradesh United Teachers Federation for taking necessary action. One of the demands of the Andhra Pradesh United Teachers Federation submitted to Government, is to allow medical reimbursement to the family pensioners on the ground that the pensioners and their dependent family members are eligible for medical reimbursement and they have requested the Government that this facility may be extended to family pensioners even after passing away of the pensioner.

         

3.       Government after careful consideration of the matter have decided to extend Andhra Pradesh Integrated Medical Attendance Rules, 1972 to Family Pensioners after expiry of the pensioner, and issue amendment to include  ‘Family Pensioners’ in rule 6 of Andhra Pradesh Integrated Medical Attendance Rules, 1972, so as to enable them to get free medical treatment in Government Hospitals and medical reimbursement for the treatment obtained in recognised private hospitals on par with State Government, retired pensioners, subject to the existing terms and conditions and as amended by the Government from time to time. It has also been decided by Government that ‘the dependents’ of family pensioners shall not be eligible for these facilities.  Accordingly, the following Notification shall be published in the next issue of Andhra Pradesh Gazette:-

 

NOTIFICATION

 

          In exercise of the powers conferred under Article 309 of the Constitution of India, Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby makes the following amendment to Andhra Pradesh Integrated Medical Attendance Rules, 1972:-

 

AMENDMENT

 

          In the said rules, after clause (i) (h) of Rule 6, the following shall be added namely;

 

“(h) (a). Family Pensioners, after expiry of the pensioner. Provided that the dependents of family pensioners shall not be eligible for these facilities”.

 

This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department, vide their U.O.No.25039/762/A2/Exp-HM&FW-I/2003, dated 28-10-2003.
