Q. What does Indian Medicines & Homoeopathy Department deal with?
A. Primarily the Department offers medical care to the people through Indian System of Medicines & Homoeopathy viz., Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy. Also the Department is responsible for issue/renewal of manufacture/Sale of Drug Licences.
Q. Whom to contact for registration and medicines sale licenses, the required documents and fee structure?
A. The Commissioner, Indian Medicines & Homoeopathy Department and Inspector, Board of Indian Medicine may be contacted at the following address for issue of licenses in Telangana area (Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Warangal, Mahaboobnagar, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Khammam and Medak Districts) as per Hyderabad Medical Act 1312 Fasli:

5. Fee structure for issue of sale/renewal of sale licenses
  1. Issue of fresh sale of medicine license, valid for (1) year: Rs.5/-
  2. Rs.2/- for yearly renewal of license

Q. Can other state ISM&H graduates (Ayurveda/Unani/Homoeopathy) register with the Department?
A. Yes, they can register if they want to practice in A.P.
Q. Are ISM&H graduates of Siddha, Naturopathy etc., i.e., other than Ayurveda/Unani/Homoeopathy also registered?
A. Apart from Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy, only Naturopathy graduates are eligible for registration. However, there is provision for registration of Siddha medical graduates.

Q. What are the speciality treatments offered by the Department, system wise and the user charges if any?
A. The speciality treatments offered, system-wise is as shown below:
Ayurveda : Panchakarma treatment, Paralysis, Asthma, Piles, Jaundice, Joint diseases, Chronic diseases in Ayurvedic Hospitals in Hyderabad, Warangal and Vijayawada.
Unani : Paralysis, Bell's Palsy, Hepatitis, Jaundice, Rheumatoid, Arthritis, Diabetes Mellitus, Renal Calculi, Asthma, Gal-bladder and other chronic diseases, Diabetic foot in Nizamia General Hospital, Hyderabad.
Homoeopathy : Rheumatoid Arthritis, Non-insulin dependent, Preventive medicine for viral infection, Diabetes Mellitus, Japanese Encephalitis (Brain-fever) in Hospitals in Hyderabad, Rajahmundry, Gudivada and Kadapa.
Q. What exactly is Panchakarma treatment and what are its advantages?
A. It is a special type of treatment with (5) processes for body purification for chronic and incurable diseases. It requires pre and post treatment preparation with food restriction.

Q. Where can I get Panchakarma treatment and are there any user charges?
A. Panchakarma treatment is available at Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, Charminar, Erragadda, Warangal, Vijayawada and Banaganapally.
Q. Is there an effective prevention and treatment for Brain fever (Japanese Encephalitis), if so whom should I approach?
A. There is treatment for Brain Fever in three Systems. They may approach any Government Hospital Superintendent, Senior Medical Officer/Junior Medical Officer of the Dispensary, Regional Deputy Directors as well with Additional Directors of the respective systems.
Q. Are there any side effects to Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy?
A. There are no side effects to Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy.
Q. Generally when do the admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate courses start?
A. The admission notification is issued by N.T.R University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, and an entrance test is conducted by them for admission into U.G courses (EAMCET for BAMS, BHMS and BNYS; BUMCET for BUMS) and P.G courses (M.D (Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy)). Generally the notification is issued in the month of April.
