ORDER :

 

                  Orders were issued in the G.O 1st read above to the effect that on the event of the death of a retired Government employees in receipt of service pension, a lump sum amount equal to one month’s Pension, subject to a minimum of Rs.150/- shall be payable to a nominee who has been nominated by the Pensioner in accordance with the instructions laid down therein.   Subsequently, in the G.O. 9th read above, the minimum amount was raised to Rs.1,000/- which was further enhanced to Rs.2,000/- vide orders issued in the G.O 11th read above.

 

2.         In the Government Order 12th read above, orders were issued constituting Pay Revision Commission and Government appointed Sri J. Rambabu, IAS., (Retd) as Pay Revision Commissioner.  In the Government Order 13th read above, the terms of reference of the Pay Revision Commission were laid down. The Pay Revision Commission submitted its report to the Government on 30-06-2005 and recommended, inter alia, that the funeral charges to be enhanced to Rs.5,000/-

 

3.         After careful consideration of the report, Government hereby order that the existing minimum amount of Rs.2,000/- referred to in the G.O. 11th read above shall be raised to Rs.5,000/- (Rupees five thousand only) with effect from the date of issue of these orders i.e., these orders shall apply in case of death of service Pensioners on or after the date of issue of these orders.  The Sub-Treasury Officer concerned shall arrange payment of the amount to the nominee or where the nominee predeceased, to the alternative nominee, as far as possible, on the same day of the death of the Service Pensioner or on the next working day immediately following the day of the death of the Pensioner.

 

4.         All other conditions and instructions issued in the references read above shall however continue in force which are in consonance with these orders.
