From the C&MD, APTRANSCO LetterNo.CE/Reforms/DWG/
Consequent to Andhra PradeshElectricity Reform Act, 1998 and notification of Transfer Scheme for Assets/Liabilities ofAndhra Pradesh State Electricity Board becoming effective from 01-02-1999, the verticallyintegrated Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board has been unbundled into two independentcorporations viz., Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) andTransmission Corporation of A.P.Limited (APTRANSCO). To start with, distribution functionsare also kept under Transmission Corporation of A.P.Limited in addition to TransmissionSystem. As per the Power Sector Reforms Programme, Distribution functions will be furtherunbundled to form independent Distribution Companies to function as financially andcommercially viable entities.
2. The Chairman &Managing Director, APTRANSCO has submitted proposals for configuration of DistributionCompanies which will initially be wholly owned subsidiaries of APTRANSCO. The APTRANSCOhas indicated three alternate options for consideration.
3. The Government aftercareful examination in the matter, hereby approve the constitution of the following 4distribution companies as indicated in Annexure-III
(Option-E) of the letter readabove.

4. The Chairman &Managing Director, APTRANSCO is requested to take necessary further action to constitutethe above distribution companies as subsidiary companies to APTRANSCO in terms ofsub-section (6) of Section 23 of A.P.Electricity Reform Act,1998 and incorporate the sameat the earliest as per Companies Act,1956.
